Dining at a neighbour’s table

Dine-in is not a restaurant booking with extra steps. You are booking a seat at somebody’s own table, in their home, and in most cases they sit down and eat with you. That difference is the whole experience.

What catches people out

Turning up late matters more than at a restaurant

The food is served at a set time to everyone at the table. There is no second sitting to slide you into.

Home hosts are identity-verified; restaurants are not

A home-based kitchen has to pass a government-ID check before it can seat anyone. Commercial premises are exempt because they already carry municipal inspections. Both show you a badge for what they hold.
